Hello and welcome to my blog.
To be honest, starting a blog was the last thing on my mind a few years ago. Even a few weeks ago! However I thought why not? It is 2020 after all. Time to “embrace the Tech age”.
Being an illiterate individual, with a mild form of dyslexia, I was told at school not to worry about turning up for my English literature exam, and to concentrate on my other subjects. Ultimately, I did better in French than in English…… hang on perhaps I should try this in french and see how we go? Bonjour et bienvenue sur mon blog. I jest thank God for google translate and and, more importantly, thank the almighty for spell check!
So back to me. From a very young age I have always loved the outdoors and money. So I was around the age of 7 or 8 when I created my first business, with a very unique business name “Adams Jobs and prices”. The expenses at first, like most businesses, killed me! I had a very big choice at such an early age as to whether to spend my pocket money on penny sweets, or a notepad and pen. Luckily the latter prevailed and I was in business! Painting fences, weeding, mowing the lawns. If money was to be made I wouldn’t mind getting my little hands dirty. Everything seemed to be going well until the teenage years kicked in when, a slightly deeper voice was not the only change, and I was far to busy trying to be cool. But that was my first taste into the garden life and, if asked when you got into gardening, this little memory is where it began.
Fast forward to when I left school and like so many with not a clue in the world what I wanted to do that summer holidays, let alone what I wanted to achieve with my life, for some bizarre reason gardening never entered my mind. Maybe I thought I could not make a living out of it or, most likely, thought I was going to be the next A-list film star or the next Bill Gates inventing something incredible and changing the world.
I was firstly a mechanic, then worked in an admin office, living for the weekend as most 18-22 year old’s did. And I guess still do. My big change had to be when I joined her Majesty’s Armed forces as a light role infantryman. Even though I was 22 I was still very immature for my age, this was a defining moment in my life. Who knows I may blog about the experience one day. After leaving at the age of 26-27, I joined the London rat race for a just over a year, trying to make the next chapter of my life a huge success, and I quite liked putting on the suit. Unfortunately this could not hold my interest and I longed to be outside. So, at the age of 28, I hung up those suits for some garden gloves, and haven’t looked back for the last 5 years. So to the Sherlock Holmes of you out there, the key facts of the matter are, my name is Adam and I am 33 years old, but I’m sure you’ll agree that if I just wrote those 2 facts, this would not be the greatest of blogs.
